Hi. I have several friends that want to read the Bible in a year and I feel led to facilitate this. I just finished a Bible-in-a-year plan with a few friends that was a daily mix of OT, NT, Proverbs and Psalms. Having gone through the Bible several times now, I'm wondering if there is a guide that omits redundant passages.

For instance, 2 Kings 18-20 is about King Hezekiah. So is 2 Chronicles 29-32. Many parts are identical, word-for-word. For instance, compare 2 Kings 18:2-3 with 2 Chron 29:1-2. The life of Jesus is recorded four times! It would be nice to read the most detailed account of each part, but only once.

What I'm looking for is a slower study that still takes a year to go through. The last year was characterized by rushing. I want to slow down, soak, absorb, meditate, have His Word pierce my soul. Either I need to find a read-the-Bible-in-three-years, extract more time per day to meditate, or read only part of the Bible in a year.

Yes, creating a guide like this can be dicey. (Who wants to cut out chunks of God's Word?) There are some things in 2 Kings 18-20 that are not in 2 Chron 29-32 and vice-versa. How do I decide? I'm sort of hoping somebody has already put a ton of effort into this question and has created a non-repetitive reading guide. I figured this is the place to ask.

To make this even more obscure, it'd be awesome to have this in a chronological order! Something like this chronological guide gives one an idea of the repetitive sections.

I look at it as a One Year Bible "read" not study. Personally, I have always wanted to have the assurance that I had read the bible in its entirety. Just a self sitisfaction thing.

But shouldn't a slow, soak, absorb, meditate time with the Lord happen through the hour, day, week, month, and year anyway? And rather, that the Lord's word would be worked into our spirit not necessarily our soul?

"God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship Him in spirit and truth (reality)."
