I have always appreciated the story of Hannah and her vow of dedication of her son, Samuel, to the Lord.
The concept of dedication to the Lord in the Bible always fascinates me.
Hannah's name means "Grace".
If I ever had a daughter I have always known I would want to name her Hannah. I find the name Hannah to be beautiful in sound and meaning and respect the devotion and humanness of this woman. She knew to turn to the Lord in her deep sorrow. When we are all together in the Kingdom, I definitely want to talk to her.
I think it is very striking how Eli thinks she is drunk because of her apparent disposition. (He wasn't always on the ball it seems, so who knows hehe) She must have sounded pretty distressed and sorrowful beyond normal repentant grief or some such.
The histories of Israel in 1 & 2nd Samuel are very cool and I love how this part begins
