Great news for all of you prayer warriors. The One Year Bible Forum has a new Forum Topic devoted to Prayer Requests, Praise and Thanksgiving for this vital and vibrant online community.

This is a terrific resource for you to connect with others and support each other in prayer. We invite you to submit your prayer request, be it for the nations or leaders, a request for a loved one or friend, co-worker or for yourself. No prayer request that presses on your heart is considered too trivial for prayer. You will find many are dedicated and committed to pray with you, believing for the breakthroughs needed.

Do you believe in the power of prayer? You know, you should. Scripture is very clear that this power is available to God’s children. Believe in the power of power and take advantage of this opportunity to have two or three gather in prayer.

Matthew 18:20 (New International Version)
20 "For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."

1 John 5:14-15 (New International Version)
14This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. 15And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.

John 14:13 (New International Version)
13And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father.

James 5:16-18 (New International Version)
16 Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
17 Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. 18 Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops.

2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (New International Version)
4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

Philippians 4:6-7 (New International Version)
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Please read the Prayer Forum Guidelines carefully and then trust God for answers results to your prayers according to his will for your life. The power of prayer should never be underestimated because it draws on the glory and might of the infinitely powerful God of the universe!

I have never been a "prayer warrior". There have been times it when it was even a struggle for me to say the Lord's Prayer and "feel it". Most times I wondered if I was just whistling in the wind, and many times I was so unexcited about always saying the same things to God that I figured He was probably too busy to even listen to me. Some of my Christian friends called it "being in a dry period". [...For 60 years?!]

Things have changed in my life. Reading many new [to me] books and fellowshiping with a small group of Christian men [at Starbucks] once a week, for almost two years now, has helped set my life on a new course.

One of my favorite books, "Is God To Blame" by Gregory Boyd, turned my thinking around about prayer. I've recently lent my copy to someone and I don't remember the exact chapter and pages; however, there is a chapter in this book about prayer that really set me to rethinking what there was of my prayer life.

Trust me, had I not read this and several other books first... I doubt very much that I would now be truely enjoying and excited about reading the Bible and the same goes for praying. I read this book well before I started reading the Bible on January 1st of this year.

The Bible is a wonderful resource and prayer is like the breath of life. There is an element of choice involved here and sometimes some of us have to pick at it for a long time and want it deeply before we take the baby steps that lead to the choice to return His love. Some of us are just slower to learn and that is why I am sharing the name of Boyd's book here. I found it very very helpful.

Hi Cartoonbug,

I'm thankful and appreciative of all that you do here....
I think the Prayer/Praise/Thanksgiving forum is a great idea....There are some very inspirational “prayer warriors” out there be it through experience (?) or calling(gift)....

This is an area that I want/need to grow in...HE is telling me it is time to be more of a “doer”...
Even though I'm still learning, one thing I do know is...”If nothing else, at least pray”...and when you do you will learn to “never underestimate the POWER (HIS) of prayer”.....It is a blessing and a privilege...and the beautiful thing is that not only is it the “very least “ we can do....it is also the “most important” thing we can do...(providing we include the PRAISE/THANKS)....It's a gift that “keeps on giving”....

I 'm "constantly" reminded to pray, but I 'm not comfortable yet to pray out loud with others...or is it that I don't have enough experience to be able to pray out loud “on the spot”?...
I have no problem with praying “silently” on the spot (maybe that is what I'm meant to do)....It's just that if I am witnessing to someone, I usually tell them that I “will pray for them” (For
HIS GLORY)....but I am striving to be able to pray “with them” because there are times when that could make a huge difference....I don't want to hinder anyone... I just want to be a better witness
according to HIS WILL...

I would appreciate any input...

Where are the Prayer Forum Guidelines? Did I miss something?
Thanks again!

IN HIS NAME

Thank you for your very kind words eysonHim,

Your question inspired me to provide a short article on How to Pray in Public which you will find in the Prayer Forum. I hope that you find these tips helpful as you take a leadership role in Public Prayer. May God bless you and your endeavor to honor Him.

For His Kingdom,
