I'm just beginning the Plan. What is the objective or purpose of the order in which the verses are selected. Obviously it jumps around all over the Bible, and you will read the entire Book in 1 year. But is there some other intent? ie, are the verses selected because of common ideas expressed, etc? Thx

Greetings and welcome,

There are many reading plans available to help you get thru the Bible in One Year. The One Year Bible Family has two to offer. The first is the most popular and provides variety in the daily reading. It's likely this is the one that feels like it's jumping around. Just think of it as two parallel storylines (Old versus New Testaments) with two more passages offering Praise (Pslams) and Wisdom (Proverbs) to round out the reading. We are going thru each section in the order of placement in the Bible.

The One Year Bible daily reading plan consist of passages from the Old Testament, New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs. This arrangement of Scripture brings variety and a fresh approach to each day's 15-minute reading, while providing a clear understanding of the Bible's larger message. No other "through the bible" plan presents the entire bible in such a user-friendly format.

The One Year Chronological Bible reading plan contains the entire text of the bible arranged in the order the events actually occurred. This unique viewpoint allows you to read the whole Bible as a single story and to see the unfolding of God's plan in history.

If you prefer a more chronological approach, you can try the One Year Chronological Bible reading plan. This is chronological by history, but will really appear to skip back and forth thru the Bible. Once you get into the rythm of the readings, it will make more sense to you. Since most people pick up the Bible and read from Genesis thru to the end, the One Year Bible approach helps you get to the fullfill of God's redemption plan early in the year so that the old testament makes more sense from God's standpoint. I hope that you have found this helpful and that you find the strength to complete the journey. May God richly bless the reading of his Word.

In Him,

Lance Muller
